May 3, 2010 – Buck Keenan LLP recently secured a favorable judgment on behalf of American Humate Inc. (AHI) in the Superior Court of the State of California for the County of Los Angeles. E.F. Mano DeAyala, a partner in the firm, represented AHI along with local counsel David P. Schack and Matthew B. O’Hanlon, attorneys with the Los Angeles office of K&L Gates LLP. AHI, an Alaskan scrap metal business, filed the lawsuit against Ameuro Global Procurement, Inc., Zhen Cheng Trading Co., Zhen Cheng, LLC, Anthony On, Martin Shiang and Norman Wong, alleging that the defendants fraudulently induced AHI to enter into a $1.3 million scrap purchase agreement and, thereafter, breached the agreement. The defendants counterclaimed that AHI breached the contract but dismissed the claim during trial.

After a four day trial, the court found that all defendants conspired to defraud AHI and breached the scrap purchase agreement. The court awarded AHI $1.3 million in damages.
